Welcome to Foxhollow Animal Sanctuary
Foxhollow Animal Sanctuary began in the mid 1990's when Tony and Diane Burge were asked to take unwanted pets to re-home at their plant nursery in Hambrook, Chichester.
It soon became obvious there was a need for a rescue service for a vast range of pets, with many animal charities only taking dogs, cats or horses, or not having the facilities Foxhollow could offer. With a large barn, paddocks, ponds, and later the addition of a huge waterfowl pen, aviaries and other housing, many types of animals and birds can be accommodated.
Foxhollow's reputation grew rapidly and soon animals were coming in from as far away as London, Guildford, Brighton, Dorset and Wiltshire.
Nugget was a much-loved riding horse who was, sadly, losing his sight. He was rescued by Foxhollow Animal Sanctuary in 2003, aged 15.
The vet confirmed that nothing further could be done to halt the decline in his eyesight, and as such he was no longer safe to be taken out on the roads, but very much enjoyed doing basic dressage in the arena. He also enjoyed running free with the other horses in the paddocks.
Sadly, after several years he became totally blind and developed problems with balance, and had to be put down.
In the three years he spent at Foxhollow, he was able to get the exercise he truly loved, and was cared for and well looked-after. Although health problems ailed him, he was able to spend the last few years of his life being happy.
